I'm fond of having a second painting on the easel as a secondary painting, this keeps me from overworking the main painting and also serves as a testing ground for colour and tone for the main painting.

Sometimes the secondary painting, as in this case, is as nice or better than the main painting. The last pose with this model is next week, hopefully I'll get them both finished in the final two hours.

This is the second last session on with this model, next week we race towards completion and I'm feeling the pressure. Both this painting and the secondary painting are small works, but they have consumed many hours so far!

I seem to be specializing in incomplete paintings at the moment... my day job has been keeping me from painting. I've been on deadlines and had an extra work load; but that's all over (for now).

Last week we erected a wooden 'cottage' in the back yard which will be my studio, so far it's a shell with all my art stuff crammed into it and it's going to take another week before I'm up and running there.

Hopefully I'll move some of these 'incompletes' to FIN.

She's back! One of my favorite models.
We started a new session with her on thursday night, she's got an incredible figure and she sits like an angel. Hopefully this painting will not turn into the disasters that my recent paintings have mutated into.

It's been a privelage to work with this model, she is lovely... and the results were very pleasing!

She was a lovely model, older than the others and a mother, but still a very lovely model.

Modeling for us was the first time she modeled for an artist group, and she did it fantastically. It is a pity that she can no longer model for us, I'd like to have done more of her.

I've cheated here... or is it more a case of artistic license? The figure here never existed as is, it is a composite of a few reference photos with the gaps filled by my imagination. The painting was an exercise in light and painting with tones.
I enjoyed the contrast of the bright blue sky against the warm flesh tones of the sunlight figure... or is it the other way around?

Reclining Nude on a Persian Carpet

This is one of those paintings that I just fell in love with! (which seems a bit egotistical since it's my own painting)

It was a simple life study that works. The brush strokes are bolder than my normal style and the detail is in the suggested shape.

The model is a pleasure to work with; not only is she beautiful, but she's also got a natural understanding of what the artist expects of a model.
